Top Five Biggest Design Faux Pas of All Time

Every once in a while, it's fun to look back and see how far interior design has come. Here are some of my least favorite design mistakes throughout history.

5. Matchy-Matchy Floral Prints
This was a huge trend in the 90's and I'm so glad it's over. Floral is making a comeback, but I hope not to this extreme.

4. Pastel Bathroom Fixtures
You can make these look good in your home, but mostly, they just look dated and are so overpowering that decorating around them is extremely difficult.

3. "Wood" Paneling
This is one of the worst mistakes ever. I'm not talking about real wood walls with picture frame moldings, I'm talking about the cheap, fake crap that they tried to make look like wood:

2. Mirrored Walls
A big mirror can do wonders for a room, but why we decided that plastering mirrors onto a whole wall looked good is beyond me.

And the #1 worst design faux pas is:  The 80's.
I don't think I need to elaborate on this one. The dark ages of modern design history.

I hope you enjoyed a humorous look to the past through Interior Design's slip ups. I only hope that 30 years from now, we won't be looking back on today's design with the same humor, but let's face it...we probably will.

We FINALLY were able to get 100 likes on the Facebook page and gave away this cute mirror to a lucky reader!
