1. Buy a TON of glow sticks. These can be used for a lot of different applications. They are relatively cheap and easy to work with. (One tip - wear gloves - glow sticks are filled with chemicals). You could take a bunch of empty paper towel or toilet paper rolls, then cut scary eyes out on one side, then put a glow stick in the center. I suggest putting them in your bushes outside for the trick-or-treaters! Glow sticks can be opened and poured into jars, then shaken to make glow jars. Simply cut open the glow stick, pour it's contents into a clean mason jar, then put the lid on and shake. Voila! Instant glow jars. You can change it up and add glitter to some, put some toy creatures or fake eyes in some; the sky's the limit! You can put an intact one at the bottom of the punch bowl, hand them out as party favors, or even use them in your costume.
2. Make your own spider webs. You can use yarn, trash bags, string, thread, or anything else you can think of. It's a great way to use up the last bit of yarn you have left from previous projects.
3. Decorate your door. There are thousands of ideas online. I would choose a design based on your door color, so you don't have to do much to it. Here are a few cute ideas:
4. Silhouettes can be very dramatic and are very easy to make. You can literally print any silhouette from your computer, cut it out and tape it anywhere. You can stick silhouettes to your glow jars, vases, windows, or even over your existing artwork in your home. Here are a few cute, and easy ideas.
5. Last and certainly not least, get creative with your food. I had a Halloween party every year, and the most successful parties had fun and spooky food. Consider these ideas:
I hope these inexpensive DIY Halloween ideas help you design your Halloween decor over the coming weeks! Enjoy!
